I just really yearned for a much smaller, more form fitting suit than the trunks I had. I had been doing some snorkeling and was no doubt going to be doing a lot more for the next year or so, including experimenting with somewhat deeper breath held diving, and I just couldn't stand the thought of wearing trunks for that. I went to the store and looked at some pairs of square cuts and even those smaller swim shorts with the slit sides, thinking that would be a good "starter" type of introduction into the world of smaller swimsuits.

But the little Speedo briefs hanging on the pegs kept nagging at me and I knew if I bought anything other than a true Speedo, I'd just be unhappy and disappointed. So I forced myself to try on some Speedos and ultimately, I went all the way and purchased the smallest they had, the actual kind of suit I always lusted after, a small black Speedo with true 1" sides.

I was so excited, happy, terrified, all at the same time. The next day, I went to the beach with my snorkel gear. I had it on under my regular swim trunks. It took forever for me to get up enough nerve to pull off my trunks and just wear my speedo, sitting on my towel on the sand. Then it took forever again for me to get up enough nerve to get up, grab my mask and fins, and walk down to the water and go snorkeling.

But I did, and it felt simply amazing to be finally immersing my body in the warm water while wearing nothing but a Speedo, and snorkeling in it was incredible, especially how good it felt to be going underwater in it, and I'm so glad I allowed myself the pleasure of being a speedo wearer. Inspired by the varying skin texture of a shark, the original Fastskin suit came with compression and ridges in key areas as Speedo developed a fabric which mimicked nature and helped swimmers glide through the water.

Current photo via Speedo. Ever since Arne Borg set a world record whilst wearing Speedo in , the company has been committed to helping swimmers go as fast as they can in the water. By constantly pushing the boundaries of innovation and new technologies, Speedo was routinely the brand of choice for Olympic and World Gold-winning swimmers thanks to features which reduced drag and surface resistance, as well as being the first to use fabrics such as nylon in their swimsuits.

At the same Games, 13 of the 15 world records which were broken were done so by swimmers wearing the new Fastskin suits. I finally switched to brief-style a little under a year ago and regret not doing it sooner.

It's so much more comfortable that I wouldn't even consider the jammers again. Re: My first time in a speedo in public 4 Post by anon » Fri Mar 03, pm When at uni I joined our swimming and water polonium club and wore boardies. I quickly discovered I was alone in my attire with most of the guys wear speedo trunks and jammers and a few in speedo briefs. The president of the club actually said to me that boardies were fine for practice but if I wanted to get into the sport properly and compete speedo's were required.

Well after a week and half of trying to find an empty pool or another speedo wearer I decided what the heck. There were 2 girls and 2 guys in the pool so I had to wait a bit for a lane I could share but no one said anything.

In fact a girl doing aqua fit shared a lane with me for the first sixth of my swim. I actually did 66 laps today which about equates to a mile, evenly spread between freestyle, backstroke and breast stroke. I usually do about less than half that but for some reason I felt I could just keep going and going. I wear glasses so while swimming so everyone's face is a blob but there was a guy wearing a green patterned speedo practicing with a paddle board that just got out of the pool when I arrived.

Not sure if it's the same person I saw Super Bowl Sunday. I actually did move up my schedule the next few days after to see if I could catch him in the pool but no luck. Oh well, thanks for the encouragement guys, will try to wear them more often! Re: My first time in a speedo in public 7 Post by Andre » Fri Mar 10, am Noah wrote: well thx for noticing that. You got sharp eye. Actually those are quite old pair of Arena-brand and I cut the liner off. Sort of like to show off a bit.
