I don't think Krang was the boss over Shredder, he just had more brains. Through I do think they made Shredder too weak later on. I gotta disagree, I never really cared for Krang. Somehow the idea of Shredder having a boss just didn't sit right with me. I mean since the time of their conception in the mid 's Shredder had be the arch nemesis of the turtles, the master of the foot clan and the evil genius hell-bend of taking over the world.
Why in the bloody hell did they decide that he needed someone to boss him around. Maybe if Krang had Shredder had had more of an equal partnership it wouldn't have bothered me so much the Krang was clearly the one in charge. Besides as was mentioned before all he did was stay in the technodrome and doll out orders so he really didn't add much to the show.
Achilles Posted 13 years 1 month ago. I somehow missed the episode with Krangs origonal body? You should also note that he was more satistic in the comic, he caused Wingnut to go insane by publicly killing all the females of his speices becuse Wingnuts people tried to rebel, caused Slash to go mad by chopping down all the trees on his planet then blameing the Turtles then he surgecly fused himself on Shedders body.
Looking back on it, Krang's voice really gets on my nerves. Great article. The only thing I hated about Krang was that laugh of his. I know starsprinkles, but thats the cool thing - very original! And thank you all for the kind comments. You know what I think would be an awesome world conquering crossover: Krang and Stewie from Family Guy. Just imagine the bickering and planning those two could unleash on the world! StarSprinkles84 Posted 13 years 1 month ago.
I love how original this article was. Great job And I too always wondered what Krang's original body was like. I don't understand though is why they put Krang in the stomach instead of on top of the head??? Borgem Posted 13 years 1 month ago. I always wondered what Krang's original body looked like.
Thanks for answering that question. Colonel Posted 13 years 1 month ago. RetroRickster Posted 13 years 1 month ago. I thought this article was going to be about Krang the Warlord of Atlantis. In this dream, Shredder has had no problem conquering and dominating all of the earth.
Due to his virtually unchallenged reign, when Krang approaches him about building the android body, Shredder quickly refuses. This easily destroys any chance of a relationship, begrudging or otherwise. Thankfully, though, this episode was just a dream. Earlier on, we mentioned the Utrom race, and honestly, the canonical relationship between Krang and the Utrom is a bit of a hot topic.
In the Archie Comics series and the early animated series, he was explicitly said to be of no relation to the race from this galaxy. The reasoning behind this is their origin, plain and simple. The Utrom are claimed to be from the Milky Way galaxy.
Krang, however, is known to be from another planet in another dimension, Dimension X. While the creators acknowledge the similarities between the two, they make it clear that there is no direct relation. This is not the case in other versions, however. There are a couple of different explanations for this, depending on which version is being analyzed.
The first is that, just like with any other species, you can find good guys and bad guys among the Utrom. While many are peaceful, Krang is definitely an exception.
The other common explanation is based upon his relation to the Kraang Prime, a collective conscious of Utrom. As Krang is revealed to be a cousin of the leader of this group, this makes him undeniably one of the Utrom. The android body built for Krang by Shredder, as mention previously, is run by a control panel through which Krang uses his tentacles to control the body and the weapons it contains.
Throughout the majority of the franchise, it is assumed that he has complete control of how the body moves and interacts with society. It is assumed that he is the only brain involved in this process. Common sense dictates that an android body that has a gap in the stomach for a disembodied brain to sit would be completely reliant on that brain for everything.
Throughout the different versions of the story of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles , the barriers of common sense are broken and defied in very creative ways. The android body, it seems, is no exception to this. In one of the later episodes of the Nickelodeon version, quite out of the blue, the android body speaks on his own! Since this shocking revelation, fans have been left to ponder a series of very important questions.
If it has not, what gave it the ability? Perhaps most importantly, what else can it do outside the control of Krang? In these timelines, long ago an evil Kraang Prime came to earth and mutated primates into humans, and then continued experimenting with the mutagen. It is also confirmed various times throughout these adaptations that April herself is immune to mutagen.
This is obviously not a trait inherited from her human side. It may be possible that this is a result of the mutation that happened while her mother was pregnant with her. However, the possibility that this is a result of her Kraang DNA must also be acknowledged.
This could only mean that the Kraang Prime, and Krang by extension, are immune to the effects as well. Not only does "Molecular Manipulation" sound super cool, it is also another amazing and advanced technological invention that is introduced into the world of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. One of the other unique features about the android body in the IDW Comics world is this ability.
As Shredder built the body, he provided a molecular manipulation chip that allows it to grow and shrink as Krang commands. This is an undeniably cool, and incredibly useful power, especially if taking over all of the dimensions is the goal. After all, the ability to grow to the size of a skyscraper can only help in a fight. There does exist a touch of contention among fans on whether or not the android body possesses this ability at this point in the story line.
In one of the episodes, the Turtles are seen to remove and destroy this chip. In the very next episode there is reference to this ability again, which creates some skepticism among devoted fans. However, any potential discrepancy here is easily explained away in the claim that Shredder could have created another chip in the Technodrome in any time that may have elapsed between the two episodes.
Although Krang seemed to prefer to sit back and use his massive intellect to outthink, outsmart, and out-tactic his opponents, when the situations arose, Krang used his android suit and the bubble walker to fight and reach his end goal. At this size, he could cause a lot of damage just by punching or stomping his foot. This super size and strength allowed him to fight the Turtles in hand-to-hand combat without even breaking a sweat Additionally, his suit had hands which could shift into pincers, maces, axes, lasers, and other weapons.
These arms could also morph into wings allowing Krang to make quick escapes, or into a communications device allowing him to call for Shredder for backup. Eventually the suit was also able to switch out the standard shifting arms for others available from the Technodrome. A genius of unrivaled caliber, laser beams, shrink-boomerangs, doomsday devices, goodly doodads, sun draining energy rays, you name it and he makes a better one with missile launchers.
With an IQ twenty times that of any human being Krang can concoct Machiavellian schemes and think nine steps ahead of most others. Unfortunately his arrogance and incompetent helpers can be crippling.
Though physically the frailest of all characters in the series he is capable of slithering at approximately, 3 miles per hour And might give you a nasty slap with one of his meaty lumps, or even bite with his tiny fangs.
Those are sharp so watch out But in his android body it's a whole other story, though he rarely engages in combat with the Turtles he has proven more than a match for them. Krang used a large, bulky, powerful mechanical body. Krang rested inside a cockpit within the torso. Originally, the suit had a molecular amplification chip installed that allowed both Krang and the robot to change his size to near Godzilla proportions.
This chip was subsequently destroyed in the first episode of the series the suit debuted, though it was apparently repaired in a later episode in which the suit is brought to life by a computer chip from a video game being played by Bebop and Rocksteady , only for the robot's entire body to be destroyed by a powerful explosive developed by an at the time amnesiac Shredder after Michelangelo managed to take control of the machine via his own copy of the same game, though he obviously found a way to somehow repair it in Turtles Forever , as he again uses its ability to increase in size.
The Utrom Shredder Ch'rell co-opted this technology and quickly defeated Krang in direct hand to hand combat in a matter of seconds. It was also in that very same episode that he was able to shake the asteroid they were on just by stomping his robot body's foot on the ground in a fit of rage and damage the Technodrome itself just by banging on it repeatedly.
Even without the microchip, the exosuit was quite powerful. The hands could shape-shift into various weapons axes, maces, pincers and even a communication device. In later episodes, however, Krang could be seen changing his arms from a collection of different types he had in his personal quarters aboard the Technodrome.
Krang's suit also could "grow" jet wings in place of his arms, which he used to manage a quick escape with Shredder in its first appearance. Krang also occasionally employed a machine he referred to as a 'walker'. This device was primarily a set of mechanical legs attached to a platform with either glass or some form of transparent but protective covering through which Krang could see, and holes for him to extend his tentacles through so that he could manipulate objects.
This particular mode of transport was the version used for the first toy of Krang produced by the toy company Playmates Toys. TV shows. Other Media. Explore Wikis Community Central. Register Don't have an account? Krang TV series. History Talk 0. Universal Conquest Wiki.
