Boards Fallout 3 Whats the most moral conclusion to Oasis? User Info: thatguy Not killing him is the good karma way to go. You explain to and convince Harold how much hope he brings to the people of the Oasis and eventually to the Wasteland. That being said, kill him via the heart. The perk is awesome. I can't let Harold die I'm going to have fun covering this quest in my abridged topic. Well, if you kill his heart, Birch or who-ever his name is says that they'll still tend to the trees anyways.
I can't see that the entire wood is connected to Harold, but rather grown from his seeds that he shed. PS4 Gamertag: Zaxlor B.
Net Battletag: Zaxlor Put him out of his misery, you gain karma plus get a nice perk keeping him alive makes him misrable no matter what. I'm an athiest lulz. User Info: Catanmar.
I was pretty torn during the quest, but in the end I decided to apply the stuff that the old lady gives you Forgot her name Seemed like the right thing to do, and if I was not dead or insane at the time of this happening, that is what i would have done if I were there. Of course i would feel bad for him, but i would try to make him see the light, and get him to realize that it is for the good of the wasteland I would see if i couldn't build a birdhouse in his branches to keep him company :P Xbl: Fallingflamez May Taokaka bless you with her amazing.
User Info: LeftOfCenter. Kill Harold's heart. Free Kevorkian. As long as you don't burn him with fire, put him out of his misery. Like someone said, you get good karma for doing that.
Burning him down would be the best way to go. His ashes will fill the soil with nutrients for more plants to grow. I don't need to get a life. I'm a gamer. I have many lives. User Info: Subby If it was real life, I think the best thing to do is kill him. He says he's miserable, and he has no way to kill himself, so he needs someone else to do it.
Actually, this part of the game really affected me , because I am a big believer in people being able to chose whether to live or die, especially in situation's like his. Even if you "make him see the light" I just think that when someone wishes to leave this earth , its their choice and should be able to do so. They"ll simply reveal the location to you on your minimap.
This isn"t really necessary, as it"s easy to find -- 9 squares east from the northwestern corner of the map.
It can only be approached from west to east, so keep that in mind when you"re choosing where to speed walk from. To find the actual area, you"ll need to look for a small path on the western side of the mountains. Oasis itself is situated in the southwestern corner of the ninth square. It shouldn"t be too hard to locate, and this quest has a nice reward. When you finally approach, you"ll be informed that you should come inside as someone referred to as "He" has been expecting you.
Upon entering, you may remember Three Dog of Galaxy News Radio talking about a place with lots of trees. This would be it! Nope, Three Dog wasn"t just high on Jet, it really exists. At any rate, talk to Tree Father Birch once inside and he"ll tell you that to meet "him" you must pass a ritual of purification. If you pass a speech check, Birch will tell you a bit more about who He is, but that"s not necessary.
Drink from the basin as instructed, it"s the little tree trunk with roots growing out of it in the center. You can"t drink from it just yet, as Birch says, the Tree Minders have to assemble first. Wait on them, then have a drink. They"ll recite an odd ritual and you"ll pass out, waking up in a grove. Dead ahead is the tree they"ve been worshipping.
Turns out, it"s Harold from the previous Fallout games! He says he"s been rooted there for decades since Bob finally grew so large as to become a tree. He calls Bob Herbert now, just for his own amusement. He"ll ask you to kill him, by going underground and destroying his heart. The alternative is to burn him down with a flamethrower, but the citizens here will all become hostile if you do it that way.
Also, you can get a perk and a special item by doing this quest the right way. Before you head on to attempt the quest, return to the main Oasis area through the gate and find Sapling Yew.
