Why is regina spektors song called it

Hoping for a reunion in the near future. I'm pretty sure the song is about a solider leaving and not saying goodbye because they know they'll be back and that it's ok to feel the way you do now because it's a sad experience for both of them but it's ok because they come back and everything's ok.

This is the song that was in the second Narnia Movie at the credits and it basically, to me, describes the entire feeling of Narnia and believing an knowing that it exists.

It actually talks about a person leaving his or her hometown or family or girlfriend to pursue or do something. Like, a soldier who went to a war. The verse "I'll come back when you call me, no need to say goodbye" explains that the person is so nervous that he or she might not return to his or her family or hometown or girlfriend or boyfriend but there is a chance that he or she might.

The verse "Now were back to the beginning" the person returns safe and the verse "It's just a feeling and no one knows yet" the person is so happy that he returned to his or her family or hometown but no one knows it yet.

THAT's my interpretation. Basically, this song talks about a relationship that has its ups and downs. Its hard to say goodbye to one another though they know it will bring them no where. Kinda listening to Chasing Pavement by Adele, relationship with no end. Thats what i think. Like everyone else said this song is about a relationship, and I agree.

Like the song says in the beginning a relationship is blooming. When the relationship is at its strongest he gets the call that he has to leave to fight in a war. He says that there is no need to say goodbye because he will come back when it is over.

Now the girls world is changing because he is no longer there. The girl has to have the support of her friends to get through it. The verse "Pick a star on the dark horizon And follow the light" means that when ever they look up in the sky they know that the other person is seeing the exact same thing and they know that are connected by the same light. And light and star can also mean hopes, dreams, good etc.

The girl keeps reminding herself that he'll come back when the war over there is no need to say goodbye. Then the guy comes back from the war and they are back to when they first meet.

It is their first meeting all over again. They just have to remember what is was like before and everything will be back to what it was. It seems to me that this is a song about a relationship.

It started out small and grew bigger. Then the boyfriend had to go off somewhere and she told him that he didn't need to say goodbye, because they'd always be together.

When he finally came back, he didn't love her any more. They started from the beginning, but the boy didn't want to be with her. We were driving back to her apartment and we talked for a bit more, and I realized I hadn't even asked this girl her name!

I embarassingly asked her, and she told me, "That's ok, I don't know yours either. My name is Regina, Regina Spektor. She tried a couple times, "Samsmanskay Samskemansk, can I just say Samson? She told me again how she liked sensitive men and she said that maybe if Samson had cut his hair then he'd have to be more sensitive and she would like him. Anyways we got back to her place, one of those big studios with a really high ceiling. She got the place so she could play her music all the time without people complaining.

She played a few of the more softer, quieter songs which I loved. She offered me something to eat, but we got into the kitchen and she had all this weird Russian food, so I just asked her to get me a piece of wonderbread, that would be good enough. She asked me if I was going to stay and I said I wanted to.

I won't bore you with the details of the afterwards, but I'll say it was my first time and I was no stallion, but I held her for a while after. I told her how beautiful she was and how beautiful this whole night had been, but at the same time sad because I knew that I didn't live here and we couldn't have a relationship. We talked for a while about stupid little things and eventually fell asleep in each others arms.

She had another gig to go to the next day so she was off in a different direction. I thanked her as she left and she told me that she was proud to be the first girl who loved me.

I went back to my friends bragging, of course, but I figured this was girl was just one of hundreds trying desperately to make it and never succeeding. My life went on, and it never really occurred to me to look up this girl and see how she was doing, partially because I was busy with a serious relationship.

Out of the blue, a few months ago she sent me a CD in the mail -- autographed, saying: "To Kyle Samsonsanssky.. I loved you first - Regina. Even cooler than that, she wrote a song about that night! It's called Samson, and when I heard it for the first time, it brought back lots of memories. The Den of theives refers to the world stealing their innocent children away, and how the parents flip through the pages of the bible or parenting books, trying to figure out where they went wrong and the children flip trhough the pages of literature and try to broaden their horizons, searching for the meaning of life.

The parents think of how their little innocent children made a statue of them when they were younger but the nose begins to rust, and the statue isn't quite as beatiful, and the kids don't see their parents as the beautiful amazing statue anymore. Then when they say it's contagious, I think it means when the kids have children, the same thing is going to happen and repeat throughout generations.

It sounds a little bit sad though, to me. I don't know why. It's a beautiufl song, though. I like the way you put it anna toobusysearching on April 01, Anna, you could be wrong. I feel like this song has a much more sad and deeper meaning.

Just something to think about. Hawkins on October 25, General Comment Nothing to do with love, and almost nothing to do with comunism, it's the perception os the US, the country where she grew at: From what a see it's about the relationship between Europe and the US "US".

They Europe give them the Statue of Liberty wich is now banalised by tourists. Europeans always say they have years of experience history, old democracies, old republics in comparison to Americans which "they give a talking to" because they see the US as too agressive to other countries. But the part that makes me think of it the most is the part that says "the sculptor's mama sends regards". Best regards nelsito on March 27, Link. I'd assume that it would be more likely that "Us" refers to a formerly prominent leader that is being heavily criticized by the rest of the world "they" , a leader that has a statue and a city named in his honor.

They're slightly used but there are new ones to replace them which, ironically, are used for "slave labor. They hold all the answers but still, goverments are corrupt and people are abused. I would guess that the point, in any case, is that political criticisms and ideologies are rarely as simple as "Your government is bad, let us fix it with this new form of government.

If this is correct, its an interesting perspective that I can appreciate but don't totally agree with. Thank you! General Comment The clue is the lyric "rummaging for answers in the pages" and the excerpt "Den of thieves" which references the gospel of Mark In Nevi'im is also: 'Do you consider this House, which bears My name, to be a den of thieves?

It was a moment of complete and utter reSpekt for her, amazing. I do not think it's coincidental that Regina mentions statues in this song Myriads of interpretations, won't waste this space with my own cause they'd ramble; just wanted to put this in here! AlecsPen on January 17, General Comment I think of Lenin and Trotsky, who tried to change things for the better and will go down in history as villains.
